Java Tools

The Hipparcos Java Package is available from GitHub as a compiled Java file named jhip.jar. The tool requires Java 8 and can be run by double clicking the jhip.jar file. This opens the start-up panel in which three apps can be selected:

The concept underlying the presentation of the Hipparcos intermediate astrometric data has been formulated by Lennart Lindegren (Lund), who also supplied the algorithms (including the coarse Earth ephemeris) for generating the plots.
