Madrid Barajas Airport is located 20 km east of the city and is linked to Madrid by several highways, some with toll. The best option to reach ESAC from Madrid Airport is by car, a trip of ~50 km , taking 40 to 50 minutes in non-peak hours. Your exact route from the airport depends on if you arrive at Terminal 1-3 (the old airport complex) or the new Terminal 4 which is several kilometers away (see detailed map on the right). In both cases you want to get onto the northern ring of the M40.

From Terminal 1-3:
Exit Madrid Barajas Airport and follow signs onto the M11 towards "M40 Norte" or "Feria de Madrid". Continue on the M-11 for 7km. Exit the M-11 highway at Junction 3 onto the M-40 towards M607, A6 (A Coruña). Continue on the M-40 highway for approximately 23 km.

From Terminal 4:
Exit the airport and follow signs either towards M11 - afterwards continue as above - or the R2 leading to the M40.
In both cases you will have to a pay a small toll (Peaje). This can be avoided, but only by complicated routes.

Once on the M40:Click to see enlarged map
Exit the M-40 highway at Junction 41 (beyond the exit towards the A-6) onto the M-503 towards Majadahonda. Continue on the M-503 for approximately 5 km.

Exit the M-503 highway at Junction 9 towards Villanueva de la Cañada. Although you have left the highway you are still on the M-503. Follow the M-503, which has recently been changed to a four-lane road, until exit #19, just before the bridge. Follow signs with ESA logo to reach the station.
