PRACTICAL INFORMATION

 

 

The meeting will take place at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Villanueva de la Cañada near Madrid.

MADRID AIRPORT TO CITY CENTRE

Taxi: Fixed price is €30 to any point in Madrid city centre (this does not include ESAC).

Metro: From Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 or T4 take line 8 to 'Nuevos Ministerios' and change (map). A 'multi card’/'tarjeta transporte público' can be purchased at the airport metro for €2.50. Single tickets can be purchased for €1.20-€2.00, depending on the number of stops travelled. 10-journey tickets can be purchased for €12.25. An airport extra charge, required to enter or exit the Aeropuerto stations when travelling on a single or 10-journey ticket, will cost €3 and has to be added at a ticket machine on the day of travel. 

Train: From Madrid T4 take Renfe-Cercsnias, line C-1, to 'Nuevos Ministerios' and change (map). A single ticket costs €2.60.

 

 

COMMUTING TO AND FROM ESAC

Bus Outward: The meeting bus will make two stops in Madrid every morning

Stop 1 - TBD Plaza de España (Kiosco de las flores, https://goo.gl/maps/LVNoEJSuo96GdTQdA)

Stop 2 - TBD  Moncloa, Paseo de Ruperto Chapí (https://goo.gl/maps/6QeiJwUWUGm) 

 

Bus Return: The bus will depart ESAC for Madrid at TBD every day. 

 

There is also a public bus that goes directly to and from ESAC. The service times are as follows:

Bus number 623: MADRID (Moncloa bus terminal, dock 6) - Villafranca del Castillo - ESAC at 07:15, 08:15, 16:10, 16:50
Bus number 623: ESAC - Villafranca del Castillo - MADRID (Moncloa bus terminal) at 08:25, 09:30, 17:00, 17:50

However, we advice participants to use the pre-booked shuttle bus.
