Euclid Nearby Galaxies collage - Euclid
Euclid Nearby Galaxies Collage
The galaxies captured by Euclid reveal a Universe rich in structure and diversity. Within its first Q1 public data release, the mission uncovered millions of systems ranging from compact ellipticals to sprawling spiral galaxies.
This new collage, based on the Q1 data set, presents 28 of the most striking nearby galaxies observed by Euclid in visible and near-infrared light. The selection demonstrates how Euclid combines sharp resolution with panoramic reach, tracing details from bright stellar cores to faint halos that stretch far beyond the main bodies of galaxies. Subtle dust lanes, star-forming arms, and tidal streams illustrate how galaxies grow and transform over cosmic time.
Each of the 28 galaxies can be explored directly in ESASky, where the full Euclid Q1 data are displayed. This visual set continues the story introduced in the March 2025 release, offering a deeper look at the diversity of galaxies in our nearby Universe and previewing the vast mapping power of Euclid's six-year sky survey.
