European Space Operations Centre
Andreas Rudolph joined ESA back in 1991 as a Young Graduate Trainee in ESTEC. There, he was a member of the Eureca project, a low earth orbit micro-gravity carrier, with responsibility for the Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem. After completion of the Eureca mission in 1993 Andreas joined ESOC to work on the operations preparation for Envisat, Europe's biggest Earth Observation mission, as platform operations engineer. In 1998 he was appointed spacecraft operations manager for ENVISAT and followed the project through launch to routine operations. Andreas has also supported several other Earth Observation missions, such as ERS2 and METOP, the latter as Deputy Operations Director during its launch last year. From 2006 until March 2008 he has been the Gaia Spacecraft Operations Manager at ESOC responsible for the preparations of the ground segment and operations until launch and beyond. In April 2008 he has been promoted to Ground Segment Manager.
