National Observatory of Athens
Dimitris Sinachopoulos has a Senior Researcher position at the National Observatory of Athens. He is funded by the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology via the ATHENOGAIA programme - a 250,000 Euro project which supports the participation of eight Greek scientists in Gaia activities until 2007. Dimitris's scientific interests in Gaia are focused on establishing the algorithms and software for the analysis of the astrometric and photometric data of Gaia bright stars, of visual double stars, and of very young and low mass binaries. He also studies how the astrometric and photometric properties can be obtained, extracted and calibrated from the broad- and medium-band instruments.
