Emanuel Rossetti obtained the degree in Astronomy at the University of Bologna (Italy) with a thesis on head-tail radio sources with extended lobes.
In 1989, as a CNR fellow, he moved to CEA - Service d'Astrophysique, Saclay (France), to join the ISOCAM (the camera of the ISO satellite) project. There he developed the test procedures for the integration and qualification models of the camera.
Between 1991 and 2000 he taught Maths and Physics in Italian High Schools.
From 2000 to 2003 he has been involved in the FLAMES (ESO-VLT) project. He has designed and developed the FLAMES TSFs (Template Signature Files and related scripting sequences) which are used to create Observation Blocks for scientific and calibration exposures.
Since 2004 he is contracted at the Observatory of Bologna (Italy) as responsible and developer of the high-level control software of GIANO (the 2nd generation spectrograph which is going to be installed at TNG - Canary islands).
Emanuel is involved in the Gaia mission since 2006. As a member of CU5, he is in charge of developing and implementing the software for the SPSS Database and Archive of DU13.
