Gilles is an electronic and micro-wave engineer with a degree from EUDIL (former name of Lille Polytech, a Graduate Engineering School within the University of Science and Technology in Lille, France). In 1989 Gilles joined Matra Espace (now Airbus DS) in Velizy where he worked on electronic units for instruments. He moved to Toulouse in 1993 to work on GOMOS, one of the ENVISAT instruments built to monitor the ozone layer. From 1998 onwards Gilles participated in the development of BIOLAB, one of the scientific payloads installed onboard Columbus, the European module of the International Space Station. In 2002 Gilles joined the Gaia team and worked on the phase A study and the focal plane demonstrator. Since 2006 he is in charge of Electrical Architecture Synthesis on both the Gaia instrument and Gaia spacecraft. [Published: 09/01/2014] |
