Guy Boutonnet worked at CNES in Toulouse since 1990, he spent all his career in the development of ground segments for several well-known space missions: SSALTO (altimetry), Pléiades (earth observation), Gaia, and many other contributions.
Guy was an active member of the Gaia DPCC team between 2012 and 2014, as CU6 and CU8 Technical Coordinator, and then he took the role of CFOSAT (oceanography project with China) ground segment manager. He was universally appreciated by everybody for his professionalism and humanity, one cannot forget the large smile on his face.
He passed away suddenly on 5th November, at home after several months in hospital. We had the pleasure to attend the CFOSAT launch event with him a few days before, and he saw the first waves spectra produced in his center, just before leaving us.
Guy was fond of cycling, travelling and very proud of his family, and since several months a very happy grandfather. Guy will be deeply missed, our thoughts go out to Guy’s family.”
