Sofia Randich gained her PhD in 1993 at the University of Firenze. Following her doctorate, she spent three years at the Max Planck Institute fuer Extraterrestrische Physik in Garching and two years at ESO Garching as a post-doc. She returned to Firenze in 1997. Now she is an associate astronomer at the INAF-Osservatorio Astrofisico di Arcetri. Sofia Randich's main research interests focus on different aspects of star formation; stellar structure, properties, and evolution; formation and evolution of the Milky Way. These issues are mainly addressed by means of spectroscopy of members of young associations and Galactic open clusters. Sofia Randich is a member of the Gaia Science Team since autumn 2007 with the role of RVS scientist. [Published: 01/10/2010] |
