Michel Rapaport - Gaia
Observatoire de Bordeaux
Michel Rapaport is currently an astronomer at the Observatoire de Bordeaux, France. He started his career in celestial mechanics by constructing a theory of the motion of the Saturnian satellites and then moved to Bordeaux as an astrometrist, working with the automatic meridian circle. Michel was involved in observations of Hipparcos programme stars needed for the construction of the Input Catalogue.
He was a member of Gaia's Solar System Working Group with the difficult task of devising the mathematical method for determining the masses of asteroids from Gaia observations.
He left Gaia in 2006.
