Paola Sartoretti Observatoire de Paris-Meudon |
Paola Sartoretti is based at the Observatoire de Paris at Meudon. She is an active member of CU6 (Spectroscopic Processing) and CU2 (Data Simulations) where she is in charge of the spectroscopic simulations. Currently, she is the manager of the Coordination Unit CU6 and a member of the Data Processing and Analysis Consortium Executive. Paola received her PhD from the University of Padova in 1994 for a thesis on the surface and atmosphere of Io based on HST Faint Object Camera data. Following this she was a postdoc at Kitt Peak National Observatory (U.S.A) where, among other things, she studied the atmosphere of Jupiter. Subsequently as an ESA postdoc at the Institut d'Astrophysique, Paris she was involved with searches for extrasolar planets. Before joining the Gaia team at Meudon, Paola spent 6 years at ESO in Garching, initially as a pipeline code developer for VIMOS (a VLT instrument), and later in charge of the data quality-control of FORSes (another VLT instrument) and VIMOS).
