Patricio F. Ortiz is a research fellow at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester, UK. Along with other colleagues at Leicester Patricio is interested in the treatment of CCD calibration data and monitoring of CCD performance as part of Gaia's data processing. Patricio's research interests have led him to contribute to the establishment of the Virtual Observatory. He is also interested in variability detection techniques and data visualization.

At the moment Patricio is organising support for the victims of the recent 8.8 earthquake in Chile. See more details here.
