Torgeir Paulsen is a system engineer with the Scientific Projects Department in ESA's Science Directorate. With a master degree in physics from University of Oslo, he joined the agency in 1989 working first in the Directorate of Earth Observation. Torgeir initially worked on mission analysis of several of the Envisat instruments during the pre-development phase before moving to the Science Directorate in 1992 where he worked on the development of the LEGSPC instrument on the BeppoSAX mission. Later he was involved again with the Envisat mission, this time as an instrument engineer on the GOMOS project. In 2002 he joined the Scientific Projects Department as a principle system engineer and has since taken up the task of monitoring the development of the payload data handling processing system.
