Perseids 2016 from the Canary Islands

12 August 2016 2016 Aug 12 - Our CILBO stations successfully observed the Perseids - each of our LIC cameras recorded around 200 Perseids in addition to about 100 other meteors. In several cases meteors appeared almost simultaneously - unfortunately our detection software only stores the data of one meteor in this case... read more

News_from_the_VMO

19 June 2016 The VMO, the Virtual Meteor Observatory, was implemented when Geert Barentsen was at ESTEC. In the meantime Geert has moved to the Observatory of Armagh, but he is still working on the VMO. Currently, he is working together with Sirko Molau on setting up a page to produce life flux graphs similar to the ZHR graphs for visual observations. Have a... read more

The flux of meteoroids obtained from optical meteor observations

13 May 2015 We have used data from 12 months of our CILBO observations to determine the flux of meteoroids entering the Earth's atmosphere. Two students from the University of Oldenburg wrote their bachelor's thesis about this topic. They also presented their findings at the International Meteor Conference 2014. read more
