R_SMALL_HRES_MCAD_Polar-Rotation - Solar Orbiter

R_SMALL_HRES_MCAD_Polar-Rotation

General description

The SOOP is designed to study the flows towards and around the poles along with their evolution from a more direct view during several days. The SOOP will be using Local Correlation Tracking. It requires a regular cadence 1-2 snapshots every hour (‘à la’ AR Long Term) and providing high resolution HRT and HRI data and supporting SPICE.

Two flavours are foreseen:

A few days tracking

AND

'Full Rotation' flavour (MCAD): Extend the SOOP for a full solar rotation, building up the flow structure and high resolution map of the whole polar cap as the Sun rotates, prolonging the duration outside RSWs if pole pointing is possible then.

Default SOOP duration: Several days to a full solar rotation

Pointing requirements: Poles

Triggers: disabled
