Why do we use cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies do a lot of different jobs, such as remember that you are logged in, letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences and generally improving the user experience.

Do we use cookies for marketing, Targeting and Social Media?

No, we don't use cookies for marketing purposes or social media and we have not enabled analytics cookies like for instance Google Analytics. Cookies that we generate are not shared with third party companies.

Do we use any cookies from third party companies?

Some cookies we use are from third party companies, such as reCAPTCHA, to provide us with anti-spam and protection intelligence about our sites. These companies use programming code to collect information about your interaction with our sites, such as the pages you visit, the links you click on and how long you are on our sites. This code is only active while you are on Cosmos websites. For more information on how these companies collect and use information on our behalf, please refer to the Google Privacy & Terms.

What types of cookies are there and which ones do we use?

A cookie can be classified by its lifespan and the domain to which it belongs. By lifespan, a cookie is either a:

  • Session cookie which is erased when the user closes the browser or;
  • Persistent cookie which remains on the user's computer/device for a pre-defined period of time;

We use both session and persistent cookies on our Portal.

As for the domain to which it belongs, there are either:

  • First-party cookies which are set by the web server of the visited page and share the same domain;
  • Third-party cookies stored by a different domain to the visited page's domain. This can happen when the webpage references a file, such as JavaScript, located outside its domain.
