Hera Community Workshop
The Hera workshop is open to all parties involved in the Hera mission and to the whole small body community. It will take place on 20 - 22 April 2020 in Nice. The progress and future plans of the scientific and operational preparation of the Hera mission, organized in 5 working groups, will be discussed. The meeting will be 3 full days. It is followed by an Apophis workshop on 23-24 April at the same location, see
Hera is ESA’s contribution to the Asteroid Impact Deflection Assessment (AIDA) international cooperation, targeting the deflection demonstration of a hazardous near-Earth asteroid. Hera will also be the first in-depth investigation of a binary asteroid and will perform relevant measurements for the preparation of asteroid resources utilisation. Hera will rendezvous with the binary near-Earth asteroid (65803) Didymos in early 2027, four years after the impact of NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft.
Hera was formally approved at ESA's Ministerial Conference in November 2019.
