The workshop will span over a week, starting on Monday afternoon with a presentation of the workshop objectives, format and schedule. A session dedicated to the current and future missions dedicated to the Jovian system will be held. The invited speakers for this session include:

  • Scott Bolton (Soutwest Research Institute)
  • Oliver King (University of Leicester)
  • Haje Korth (Johns Hopkins University)
  • Fuminori Tsuchiya (Tohoku University)
  • Claire Vallat (ESA - ESAC)
  • Zhonghua Yao (University of Hong Kong)

The following three days will be focused on the science. Each morning will be dedicated to oral presentations and will start with an invited talk that will serve as an introduction to the topic of the day. The invited speakers include:

  • Alice Lucchetti (INAF - Astronomical Observatory of Padova)
  • Tom Nordheim (Jet Propulsion Laboratory)
  • Audrey Vorburger (University of Bern)

Topics will cover the surface, exosphere, and magnetosphere from various perspectives, including lab experiments, modeling, and observations. Each talk will be followed by a Q&A session. The afternoons will be devoted to discussions in the form of round table and poster sessions. The breakout sessions will be:

  • Tuesday afternoon:
    • Habitability – Astrobiology – Origin of Life – Organics
    • Analogues: Field and Laboratory Approaches
  • Wednesday afternoon:
    • Plumes and Geysers: Formation, Evolution, and Surface–Exosphere Coupling
    • Bridging Studies on the Surface Properties of Icy Moons
  • Thursday afternoon:
    • Radiation Environments at the Icy Moons (Juno and Beyond)
    • Preparing for JUICE and Europa Clipper: Gaps, Needs and Instrument Synergies

Friday morning will conclude the workshop with a summary of what has been discussed and action items. This will be a moment to talk about a second edition of the workshop and a potential extension to icy moons of other systems. For those interested, a visit of the Real Observatorio de Madrid will be proposed on Friday afternoon.
