Bus shuttle timetable

Depending on the day, there might be one large or two smaller buses waiting for you. The bus company is Hnos. Montoya, and bus(es) will display the sign 'ESA'. Departure time is 8:30 each morning from Calle Arcipreste de Hita 10 (in front of the Hotel EXE Moncloa).

Please be at the pick-up point 10-15 minutes in advance as the bus cannot wait for late participants. The trip takes 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. See the Logistics section for more information and for alternatives to reach ESAC.

A cocktail will be served on Tuesday 17 June after the scientific sessions. As a consequence, on Tuesday 17 the return bus to Madrid will leave at 20:00 from ESAC.

Access to ESAC

In order to be granted access to the ESAC site, and in case you didn't already, please fill in the mandatory ESA security form (the conference's name to be used is "X-ray Quasi-Periodic Eruptions & Repeating Nuclear Transients"). Please bring the same valid ID used in the form with you. In addition to the workshop's badge, you will be given an ESA visitor badge that should be worn visibly at all times.

Instructions for talks and posters

A laptop will be available for presenters who will need to upload their contribution in PDF (problem-free), POWERPOINT, or KEYNOTE (to be confirmed) format.

We kindly ask you to upload your talk beforehand, at the latest at the beginning of the day (for the morning sessions) or between ~14:10 and 14:30 (afternoon sessions). Please feel free to send your talk by e-mail or other transfer services beforehand (especially speakers of first day).

Posters should be in A0 portrait format, and printed beforehand, as we will not be able to provide printing services on site. You will be able to briefly (~ 5 min) present your poster in a dedicated posters session on Monday 16.  Please send any supporting slides you may want to use by Friday 13 June, possibly in PDF format. An electronic PDF version of the poster should also be sent before the conference, so we can upload them on the website as well.

Conference Proceedings

Conference proceedings will be published free of charge in Astronomical Notes/Astronomische Nachrichten. Details and instructions will be posted on the website in due course.

Moreover, we foresee to publish on this website all contributions, including posters, in PDF format.

ESAC canteen

Lunch will be served at the ESAC canteen between 13:00 and 14:15. The afternoon sessions start at 14:30 - please allow for a ~10 min walk from the canteen (F-building) to the workshop's auditorium (D-building), see the ESAC site map under Logistics

Cash payements are no longer accepted (only cards) and the typical price is in the range of 10-15 €, depending on choices. You can have a look at the ESAC canteen daily and weekly menu, including allergen guidance.

Tourist information

The official Madrid tourist's guide is a good starting point for tourist information.

For suggestions on where to eat at night, have a look at their Food and Drink section where you can find a selection of restaurants, tapas bars, typical markets with food service and other ideas.

Consider that having dinner before 9pm is rather unusual in Madrid and immediately identifies you as an exotic foreigner.

If you have some free time to spend in Madrid (or really dislike one of the sessions!), have a look at their general Maps & Guide section where you'll find information about the major attractions, including the many wonderful museums, as well as dedicated Maps (pdf and interactive) and Guides.

Some useful information on public transport in Madrid can be found under Logistics.
