Ariel Science ground segment workshop - 2022

 

The Ariel Science Operations Centre is hosting at ESAC the Ariel Mission Consortium for a workshop on 4, 5, 6 October 2022 to advance the on-going Science Ground Segment activities in the development phase.

The Ariel Science Ground Segment is being developed under responsibility of the Ariel Science Operations Centre at ESA and the Instrument and Operations Science Data Centre team of the Ariel Mission Consortium. This workshop aimes to bring together these teams to advance the development of the Science Ground Segment.

This workshop will be held in hybrid mode.

To facilitate travelling arrangements, the meeting will start on 4-Oct at 14:30 and finalize on 6-Oct at 16:00.

The registration will be free of charge.
Deadline for registration is 15 September 2022.

Due to the current COVID restrictions the number of participants will be limited. The ESA and AMC team leads will inform you whether your registration is confirmed shortly after registering.

Please be informed that due to the continuously evolving situation of the pandemic, the COVID policy at ESAC might change in the coming months and more or less restrictions may apply during the workshop. We will be keeping you updated, if this would be the case.

 

Entering the ESAC site

When arriving at the main gate (by bus, taxi or private transportation), you will need to present a valid photo ID to the security guards. Only participants who are on their checklist are allowed to enter the site. The checklist is based on the information you have entered during online registration.

Hotel

Hotel availability in Madrid is quite limited on these dates and early booking is recommended. ESAC is located some 30 km west of Madrid and it will thus be best to search for a hotel in the western parts of Madrid. We will not block hotel rooms for the conference in any particular hotel.

Transport

A shuttle bus service will be provided free of charge for transport between Madrid and ESAC and back to Madrid for the three days of the meeting. The departure location of the bus will be in front of the

which is also very near metro stations. Please note that it is not required to stay at this hotel to make use of this service.

Return times from ESAC to the Hotel Moncloa Exe are:

Wednesday 20:00 - 20:30 (after the cocktail)
Thursday 16:15

 

On the last day, depending on demand, one bus can be arranged to go directly to the airport and/or hotel.

For participants needing a taxi to leave from ESAC, you will be given a dedicated form to fill in to be assisted with booking at the start of the workshop.

Lunch breaks

Lunch breaks will take place from 13:30 to 14:30 every day. During this time, a meal can be purchased in the ESAC canteen.
The Workshop Cocktail will take place on Wednesday 5 Oct, 2022 at 18:30 in the terrace of the D-building at ESAC.

For the participants interested, we will organize a dinner in Madrid on Tuesday 4 Oct, 2022 (details to be announced later).
