The flux of meteoroids obtained from optical meteor observations

2014 Nov 27: We have used data from 12 months of our CILBO observations to determine the flux of meteoroids entering the Earth's atmosphere. Two students from the University of Oldenburg wrote their bachelor's thesis about this topic. They also presented their findings at the International Meteor Conference 2014:

Drolshagen et al., Meteor velocity distribution from CILBO double-station video camera data, Proc. IMC Giron, 2014

Ott et al., Meteoroid flux determination using image-intensified video camera data from the CILBO double station, Proc. IMC Giron, 2014

Meteoroid flux determined using CILBO data (red curve), compared to other authors. Note that the data has not yet been completely debiased, resulting in a flux which is too low for smaller meteoroid masses.
