Travel to IRAP

Arriving in Toulouse:

By air :

Toulouse is well served by the Toulouse-Blagnac airport about 10 km north-west of the centre of Toulouse. To get to your hotel from the airport, there are several options - either the bus (navette), or via public transport (tram) Line T2 - Palais de Justice/Airport. The second option takes longer, stopping at 16 stations from Blagnac to Toulouse, arriving at the Palais de Justice (close to the centre of town), with a journey time of 32 minutes. The advantage of this option is that it only costs 1.70€. Alternatively you can take a taxi (20-30 euros).

By train:

The main train station is Toulouse Matabiau (link in French only). It is located just a few hundred metres from Jean d'Arc and Jean Jaurès. There are many hotels in this area of Toulouse as it is very close to the centre of Toulouse (Capitole).

By car:

Toulouse is well linked to other major French cities as well as neighbouring Spanish and Italian cities by road.

Arriving at IRAP:

To get from your hotel to IRAP, you can either take the metro line B in the direction of Ramonville (1.70€) and get off at Faculté de Pharmacie, from where you can walk (~15 minutes) to IRAP or take the bus 78 (using the same ticket as you used for the metro - don't forget to stamp it again) in the direction of St Orens Lycée and get off at the LAAS stop. The bus goes every 20 minutes. Alternatively you could get off the metro at Ramonville and take either the bus 27 or 37. Both buses start at Ramonville metro station. You can plan your journey here!

Alternatively you can walk along the canal (~50 minutes) or take one of the bikes to hire. There are stations all around town and a couple close to our institute. You can find out more information here (website in French), but the essentials are that it is 1.20€ to hire the bike for <24 hours - with each journey free for the first 30 minutes. Be aware that the bike stations (to return bikes) close to our institute can fill up quickly in the morning. The final alternative is to take a taxi, but traffic is very heavy between 08:00 and 10:00 and again between 17:00-19:00.

If you wish to come by car, there is plenty of free parking at IRAP.

Hotels

TripAdvisor or Booking.com is the best option to find a good hotel. It is probably best to stay in the town centre as there is very little in the way of restaurants and entertainment close to the institute.
