The 2007 Project

Introduction

The 2007 project currently runs with 18 students split between summer and a winter projects. The slogan for this year "cosmos training lif(v)e" expresses two of the main aims of the project.

1. We want to train people live (hands-on) as to how we currently try to understand our cosmos using modern space based astronomical observatories. The word "live" stands for the well known idea of "learning by doing" of the famous founder of the World Scout Movement, Robert Baden-Powell. The ESAC trainees work together with experienced scientists on real projects using the latest astronomical data.

2. The experience the trainees gain through their work and integration in the ESAC teams and their exposure to today's cosmic mysteries certainly trains them for a future career and life within space astronomy or any other job on our planet.
