Herschel/HIFI Reference Position SPECTRA

Example of OFF position products for a single point observation (top - obsid 1342190778) and a spectral scan observation (bottom - obsid 1342181171). Note the contamination showing up on top of the distorted baselines

The main purpose of these Highly Processed Data Products (HPDP) is to provide stand-alone spectra of the Reference Positions (or "OFF positions") used in HIFI observations in Single Point, Spectral Mapping and Spectral Scan modes. These spectra are already generated by default by the Pipeline processing and are stored in products of the calibration context, and therefore not immediately available to the Archive User unless additional contexts are downloaded. This is why we make them available as a stand-alone set of products here.

On top of that, for Spectral Scans and Raster maps the delivered products are slightly superior to those processed by the pipeline because they correspond respectively to the deconvolved OFF-position spectra, and to the regridded OFF-position cube. Those products are more readily comparable to the ON-target corresponding Level 2.5 products. Those products will be served by the Herschel Science Archive, but they can also be fetched from this local Data repository, in the form of one tar ball file per HIFI band ,with no distinction between observing modes. All details about this data-set are given in the release notes.
