Mercury Transit - CESAR
Mercury TRANSIT AND THE EARTH-SUN DISTANCE
One of the most useful astronomical phenomena is a transit, that is, the moment when a inner planet crosses the solar disk viewed from Earth. If we observe a transit from two different locations on Earth, we can determine the parallax and then the distance between the Earth and the Sun. That is the purpose of this laboratory and to reach goal, three methods are going to be presented.
