Twenty years ago, on 10 December 1999 at 14:32 GMT the XMM-Newton Observatory took off from Kourou , in a faultless launch.

Ever since, the mission has supplied year after year key data on all aspects of Astronomy, from Solar System objects and Stars to extreme Black Holes and the structure of the Universe.

The continued success of the mission over two decades and the perspective of many more years of successful operations will be celebrated with various events, videos, pictures and products.

We take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and interest in the mission.

Yours sincerely,
