The XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre is organising the XMM-Newton Lab from 28 to 31 October 2019, at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC), Madrid, Spain.

Registration is open.

Aims and Scope of the Lab

This is not a traditional scientific meeting. The XMM-Newton Lab aims to bring together people who have an interest in timely scientific investigation and use of the XMM-Newton Data. The Lab is structured to support collaborative refinement and execution of (fairly) mature scientific ideas. This Lab is focusing particularly on getting hands-on experience with the data, forming groups to explore scientific subjects together and brainstorming uses of the data which might lead to drafts of scientific papers. It is hoped that new partnerships will form and lead to co-authored publications for the scientific literature ready or near-ready by the end of the Lab.

The objective is to stimulate state-of-the-art exploitation of the XMM-Newton dataset in a relaxed, yet focused and productive atmosphere. The Lab aims to bring together scientists with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, different interests, and from different locations working together for four days on exciting scientific topics in a collaborative spirit.

Experts from the XMM-Newton Archive, Calibration, SAS and Community Support teams will be there to help with questions on data access or data usage.
